The Krewe of Chewbacchus is a Carnival Krewe for the most revelrous of Star Wars Freaks, Trekkies, Whovians, Mega-Geeks, Circuit Benders, Cryptozooligists, UFO Conspiracy Theorists, Mad Scientists, and all the rest of Super Nerdom.

The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus proudly announces the royalty and theme for their 2011 Sci Fi themed Mardi Gras parade. The theme for the inaugural Chewbacchus parade is “BacchanALIEN Invasion”. The king is Peter Mayhew, the actor who portrays Chewbacca in “Star Wars”. The queen is Cynthia Scott, the actress who portrays Corporal Deitrich in “Aliens”..

The Chewbacchus parade rolls on Bacchus Sunday, March 6th, 2011 at approximately 5pm departing from the Big Top (1638 Clio). King Chewbacchus himself will lead our krewe and ride on Eyegore the Royal Rickshaw. Our Queen will ride on the Queen Bee Throne Tricycle.

The Chewbacchus parade includes a fleet of UFlambOs, a Bar2D2 float pulled by an X-Wing Fighter bicycle, giant BacchanALIEN and Robot puppets, a 20 ft long Quetzalcoatl Space Dragon, and much much more…

Zulu throws coconuts, Muses throw shoes, the Krewe of Chewbacchus throws wicked cool homemade bandaliers, towels, wookiee panties, and moon pies!

The night of Bacchus Sunday we will hold the Chewbacchanal at The Big Top (1638 Clio). Prepare to rock out with the music of C.O.G., Odoms, Space Girl Burlesque, Brass Bands blasting Sci Fi theme songs, Giant Pyro-technic Puppetry, and all sorts of other madness into the wee hours of Lundi Gras.

We are still accepting new members. Any and ALL Sci Fi costumes and themes are welcome.

Dues are $42 (the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything) and get you: costume supplies, parade props, music, food, entertainment, full access to the Bar2D2 (yeah, that’s right), and free entry/free drinks at the Chewbacchanal at the Big Top.
